VEGETABLES KURUMA

Hi Everyone,

I sometimes feel very drowned that Whether Iam writing in blog for no good?.Is my blog really helps someone or its just Iam killing time.Iam pretty confused :(
I feel very demotivated but still my love in cooking and clicking makes me to move still :)
What do you feel ?
Anyway today's recipe is about MIXED VEGETABLES KURUMA.If any important guests arriving to our home then this kuruma is on the must list.It has a great place in our mum's menu :)
But I use to make this when I have 2 to 3 vegetables in hand, And the recipe is so simple that you can make in 20 minutes.
Lets move to the recipe,

SERVINGS : 3 members.

INGREDIENTS :

Mixed Vegetables - 1 1/2 cup ( Carrot , Beans , Cabbage , Potato).
Curry leaves - a sprig
Tomato - 2 ( medium sized)
Green chillies - 2 nos
Onion - 1 (big)
Oil - 1 tsp
Mustard - 1/4 tsp


GRIND TO PASTE :

Coconut (grated) - 1/4 cup
Roasted channa dal / Pottukadalai - 2 tsp
Ginger 1" piece - 1 no
Garlic - 4 pods
Cinnamon 2" piece / Pattai -1 no
Cloves / Krambu - 2 no
Fennel seeds / Sombu - 1 tsp
Poppy seeds / khus khus - 14 tsp
Curry leaves - a sprig.


PREPARATION :
1) Chop the vegetables to bite size pieces ,also chop the onions and tomatoes.Slit the green chilles.
              
2) Grind the grinding ingredients -coconut , roasted channa dal , ginger , garlic , Cinnamon , cloves , fennel seeds , poppy seeds , curry leaves to fine paste .
              
3) In a pan add oil ,when oil gets heated add mustard , followed by green chilles , onions , curry leaves and sauté till onions turns translucent.
               
4) Now add tomatoes and sauté till mushy.
               
5) Its time to add the vegetables ,Add our vegetables and fry for a minute.
               
6) Now add the ground masala and 2 cups of water , salt and boil till the vegetables are boiled well.
               
7) When the gravy reaches required consistency garnish with coriander leaves and switch off the flame.
               
8) The gravy goes awesome with Idli and Dosa.You can serve even for chapathi and Rotis.




NOTES :
1) You can add any vegetables like cauliflower , green peas of your choice.Also you can add boiled egg instead of vegetables.
2) The actual colour of gravy is light brown so don't add red chillies or chilli powder.Green chilli is enough for spicy.
